Description
The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine invites applications for four faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor at two affiliated hospitals, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake or Harborview Medical Center. The anticipated start date of January 2027 or thereafter. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.
The successful candidates will join our faculty on a full-time or part-time basis for a twelve-month appointment. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors and Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. These positions are without tenure due to funding. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range for these positions will be: Assistant Professor $33,135 - $34,371 per month ($397,620 - $412,452 annually), Associate Professor $37,140 - $37,822 per month ($445,680 - $$453,864 annually), and Professor $39,851 - $40,751 ($478,212 - $489,012 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and training of the clinical care team. Successful candidates will provide general anesthesia services at either University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake or Harborview Medical Center. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research/scholarship and service.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications. Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent). At the time of employment, must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology. Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Visa sponsorship is not available for a part-time position.
