JOB TITLE: 

Library Aide: Library Coach (Peer Mentor), UW Libraries 

JOB PURPOSE: 

The Research & Outreach Services Department (ROS) at UW Libraries is looking for enthusiastic, motivated students to join our Library Coach Team at Coe Library!

As a Library Coach, you will be trained to support fellow students through one-on-one research help, assist librarians with classroom instruction, and contribute to the creation of helpful learning resources-----like tutorials, videos, and social media content. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop your communication, tech, and leadership skills while making a real difference in the academic success of your peers. 

Starting rate $12.00/hour. Pay increases to $12.35/hour after successful completion of first semester of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Use Canva and other multimedia tools to create library tutorials and videos.
  • Create static and dynamic social media content for UW Libraries research tips and trick series, including participation in audio and visual content.
  • Support librarians with classroom instruction and student learning workshops.
  • Engage with students across campus through outreach events, tours, and other activities.
  • Answer library and research questions during scheduled coaching appointments.
  • Collaborate on special projects like the Personal Librarian Program, research guides, or assessment work.
  • Participate in ongoing training to develop research and information literacy skills.

Hours: 10-15 hours per week (flexible scheduling available) 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current University of Wyoming (UW) student with at least two completed semesters at UW.
  • Completion of English 1010 or an equivalent research-focused writing course prior to employment or by the end of the first semester of employment.  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective at working with and supporting students.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Previous customer service, mentoring, or peer support experience.
  • Experience using Canva, Camtasia, or other software for video or tutorial creation.
  • Interest in social media content and trends.
  • Strong independent work ethics and ability to collaborate in team settings.
  • Interest in or experience with academic research.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with students across campus.
