Job description

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Human Resources Office is accepting applications for an Executive Recruiter. Housed within Human Resources, this position serves as the recruitment partner for the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) and UT Knoxville Executive Search. The Executive Recruiter develops and executes recruitment strategies to attract highly qualified faculty and leadership candidates while advising hiring administrators on recruitment best practices, processes, policies, and regulations.

This position is a Limited Duration Appointment (LDA) with a two-year commitment. Continuation into a third year and potential transition to a permanent role will be considered based on performance outcomes, established metrics, and organizational needs during the commitment period.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships and serve as an ambassador for UTCVM, the University, and the Knoxville community throughout the candidate experience.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years OR Associates degree and 5 years OR High School Diploma and 7 years' experience in a service or sales environment that requires establishing rapport and developing and sustaining relationships with internal and external constituents  
  • Evidence of progressive responsibilities, experience working in an environment which requires self-motivation and independent productivity is required. 
  • Experience conducting research, sourcing prospects, and implementing outreach strategies.
  • Experience managing databases, applicant tracking systems, or CRM platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree. 
  • Experience in higher education, faculty recruitment, executive search, healthcare, or veterinary recruitment. 
  • Experience in a higher education Human Resources office. 
  • Experience recruiting for specialized or hard-to-fill positions. 
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders or search committees. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of recruiting within large, complex organizations. 
  • Knowledge of academic veterinary medicine. 
  • Knowledge of recruitment best practices, labor market trends, and candidate selection methods. 
  • Ability to develop creative recruitment strategies and implement process improvements. 

Compensation and Benefits 

  • UT market range: MR09
  • Anticipated hiring range: $55,000-65,000
  • Competitive benefits package including up to 24 vacation days, 12 sick days, paid holidays, education benefits, retirement plans, and medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Accountabilities

University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) Recruitment

  • Partner with UTCVM hiring managers and search committees to develop position descriptions, recruitment strategies, search timelines, evaluation tools, and interview materials. 
  • Source candidates, coordinate the search process, including committee meetings, interviews, candidate feedback, and travel. 
  • Build relationships with UTCVM and campus leaders by providing recruitment consultation, promoting Executive Search services, and monitoring trends in academic veterinary medicine. 

Candidate Engagement and Experience

  • Serve as the primary candidate contact, respond to employment inquiries, and coordinate a professional and positive recruitment experience. 

Human Resources & Executive Recruitment

  • Collaborate with Executive Search, Human Resources, and campus partners to ensure recruitment aligns with University policies and best practices. 
  • Participate in training, sourcing initiatives, committees, and Human Resources projects while staying current on recruiting trends and practices.
