Job description

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the primary purpose of this position is to develop and implement technology solutions to achieve communications goals. These solutions will primarily be in the areas of web development and database management.  This position is part of the communications team in the Graduate School and provides support across the department, including areas of recruitment, admissions, and student services.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree and one year of relevant experience in developing content for multiple communications channels, including email and social media, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience OR an Associates degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies

  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills. 

  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • Previous work in higher education

  • Administration of a CRM, such as Slate or Salesforce

  • Building and deploying HTML emails

  • Graduate enrollment management 

  • Experience with databases, such as Oracle or MySQL

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Wordpress and/or Sharepoint

  • Graphic Design Principles

  • Knowledge of higher ed admissions processes

  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and other relevant web technologies

Primary Web Assets Upkeep

In collaboration with the Communications Manager, this position will assist in the upkeep of primary web assets, such as the Graduate School website, the Graduate Council website, and intranet sites related to faculty and staff support. This support will not only include content updates but the development of HTML/CSS/Javascript solutions for specific needs as they arise. This position will be instrumental in the redesign and development of the next-generation Graduate School website using new systems developed by the university-level web development teams.

CRM-Related Assets

In collaboration with the Communications Manager and other Graduate School teams, this position will develop solutions in Slate and Salesforce to display data for users (faculty, staff, students), allowing them to interact with Slate and Salesforce data. This can include the development of microsites (portals) and forms. This position will also provide support in the continuing development and maintenance of HTML email templates used in CRM-related communications.

Data Management and Reporting

In collaboration with the Communications Manager, other Graduate School teams, and the Office of Innovative Technologies, this position will develop and implement solutions to connect various data sources across campus related to graduate students to provide necessary reports used by administration to implement data-driven strategies.

Graduate School Event Support and Service (Orientations, Hooding, Community Fair, etc.) 

Other duties as assigned.
