United Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State, Ins. d/b/a Constructive Partnerships Unlimited is currently looking for a Utility Mechanic to join our Engineering department.
The Utility Mechanic will be responsible for the following:
• Perform maintenance and repair duties on reported deficiencies at location.
• Responsible for the reporting of deficiencies throughout the facility, including environmental concerns such and temperature, air quality and other quality of life concerns.
• Requires a basic working knowledge and understanding of electric, plumbing, and general maintenance and perform minor maintenance.
• Ensure that facility is maintained in a safe, comfortable and useful condition. Drawing on his/her own resources and soliciting the assistance of superiors and engineering to maintain.
• Responsible for maintaining safe access to the facility during inclement weather, including but not limited to: Clearing snow/ice from all approaches to the facility including doorways, ramps and driveways. Applying snow/ice melt to above areas as needed. Calling for snow/ice clearing services as required. Keeping interior floors from getting wet, by using mats to absorb moisture, and mops/fans to dry bare floors. Utilize Wet Floor signs to alert people of slippery conditions.
• Prepare work area to perform job function
• Transports furniture, equipment and supplies as needed
• Run errands, purchase, picks up supplies and parts for maintenance projects
• Safely use and work on ladders
• Inspect, secure proper use of equipment
• Conduct analyses and generate reports to reflect findings
• Provide support to coworkers as needed in any field of specialty to finish project
• Learn specific job duties and complete detailed work assignments
• Work effectively and independently with minimal supervision
• Maintain all logs and required paperwork
• Maintain any required NYC certificate of fitness for Fire Alarm systems
Position Requirements:
• Two-year experience in minor repairs (electric, plumbing and carpentry).
• Valid NYS driver's license and must be within acceptance of insurance limitations of Cerebral Palsy vehicles.
