Job description

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for an entry-level mechanical engineer with our Food & Beverage group in our Fenton, MO office location.
Responsibilities include:
  • Performing job site surveys of food and beverage manufacturing facilities to analyze ammonia refrigeration
  • Process glycol and HVAC systems
  • Calculating refrigeration requirements for process cooling loads and building loads
  • Performing engineering calculations for system designs
  • Assisting in the selection of system components required for new and existing systems
  • Drafting and editing AutoCAD drawings
  • Designing and modeling 3D mechanical systems in Revit & Plant 3D
  • Assisting in the development of project documentations
  • Assisting in creating written specifications for equipment
  • Coordinating technical specifications, delivery requirements, and quotation parameters with outside equipment suppliers, subcontractors and customers
  • Overseeing construction and assisting with startup activities

Occasional travel (up to 40%) will be required.
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • A mechanical internship working in an engineering, architecture, or construction firm
  • Coursework in heat transfer and thermodynamics
  • Coursework or experience in AutoCAD
  • Capability of obtaining an EIT within nine months of hire
  • Familiarity with International Mechanical Code requirements, ASHRAE standards, and building construction materials

Physical Abilities:
  • Capacity to work long hours on foot, often in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Must be able to ascend & descend a 30' OSHA fixed ladder
  • Good eyesight for inspecting equipment and ensuring safety compliance
  • Ability to discern and react to auditory cues in a noisy construction environment
  • Must be able to speak & write fluent English
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to multiple food ingredients
