JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Mechanic
Shift: 2nd (4:00 pm to 12:45 am)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, occasional Saturdays as needed.
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Employment Status: Full Time
FLSA Classification: Hourly- Non/ Exempt
Compensation Range: $28.00 -$33.00 (Depending on experience)
Job Summary:
Cookies United, a quality driven cookie company based in Islip, NY, is looking to hire a shift mechanic. The shift mechanic will troubleshoot equipment problems and perform the required maintenance to ensure smooth mechanical operations.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assess, adjust, and fix production machinery and equipment.
  • Adjusts equipment as required in a non-operator's capacity.
  • Observe and ensure all equipment performs as required after production has set up lines.
  • Responds to requests from all departments based on priorities.
  • Replacement of factory parts and components on our full line of products.
  • Executes PMs and preventive breakdown as directed by the maintenance manager.
  • Assesses all mechanical and electrical failures, repairs, breakdowns as needed. Reports all to maintenance manager.
  • Completes daily shift report to the maintenance manager and the maintenance team.
  • Any other tasks assigned based on business needs.

Job Requirements:
  • Mechanical skills and knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow manuals, electrical, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Motivation to become self-sufficient and troubleshooting techniques.
  • The ability to be flexible with changing daily priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Training and Experience:
  • Technician Certifications
  • 4 - 6 years of direct mechanical experience, preferably in food manufacturing environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Dexterity and coordination.
  • Lift and maneuver objects weighing more than 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in cold and hot environments.
  • Walking: move about the entire plant.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
