Job description

Weyerhaeuser's engineered lumber facility in Buckhannon, WV has the opportunity for skilled Industrial Mechanics with a thorough comprehensive knowledge of mechanical equipment, processes, and techniques to safely repair, modify, install, and maintain the facility and high-tech lumber manufacturing equipment, to join our Team.

NOTE: Starting pay is up to $34/hr

Key Functions:
  • Machinery lubrication & other preventative maintenance assignments
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanically powered equipment
  • Bearing, shaft, coupling, belt, sprocket, and chain drive system installations and alignment
  • Troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems with basic principles of cylinder repair
  • Metal fabrication
  • Some troubleshooting and exposure to industrial electricity and controls
The following qualifications are required
  • All Applicants must have a high school education or GED from an accredited institution
  • Stable employment history with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in Industrial Mechanical work
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, to include weekends and holidays as operating conditions require
  • Must be willing and able to perform the essential physical functions of the position such as but not limited to; the ability to climb stairs and ladders, navigate catwalks, lifting / pushing (50lbs), stooping, and bending, and use aerial work platforms, fork trucks and manlifts at all heights and locations in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in elevated/low temperatures (heat and cold) throughout the plant for the assigned shift
  • Must be willing and able to fit test and wear a respirator, as required
  • A personal and total commitment to observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Basic Computer knowledge and experience is required
  • Knowledge of and Experience with:  Metal fabrication, basic principles of cylinder repair, machinery lubrication, precision installation and alignment practices of bearings, couplings, belts, sprockets, and chain drive systems
  • Ability to repair and troubleshoot issues with mechanically powered equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to perform a welding and precision alignment presentation
  • Good working knowledge of basic industrial electricity issues and controls
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment examination, drug test and background check
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Vocational or technical school certificate, Military training, and experience as they relate
  • Past employment experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience in using precision alignment tools and practices
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems
  • Air compressor maintenance experience
  • Ability to comprehend blueprints
  • Highly motivated with the ability to learn and adapt
