About the RoleRoku is looking for a UX Product Designer with strong interaction design skills to drive the evolution of the Frndly live TV streaming experience and the integration of Frndly TV into the overall Roku discovery and playback experience. This design work will involve UX for browsing and searching for shows, live TV guide integration, playback, DVR functionality, merchandising, entry into subscription signup flows, and more. There will be significant collaboration with other UX designers working in these areas. Designs will apply to our TV OS 10-foot experience and our web experience.Â
Frndly TV will join more than 60 premium subscription services that have been integrated within the Roku platform - including Apple TV, Peacock, Paramount+, HBO Max, and Fox One - with more coming every quarter. Each features a consistent user interface to help customers enjoy their entertainment across multiple subscriptions in one place.
For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $185,000 and $210,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.
What You'll Be DoingÂ
- Work closely with product managers and business stakeholders to identify the problems, business priorities, and user outcomes that your designs will address
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering throughout the project lifecycle as the primary UX point of contact
- Partner with experienced User Researchers to gain insight on user needs, and to determine and execute the ideal research methodology to evaluate your designs
- Design features for Frndly so that they collectively create a consistent, seamless, easy-to-use experience for customers to subscribe to and watch their favorite shows
- Collaborate with other UX designers responsible for features related to browsing, searching, playback, live TV Guide, sign-up flows, and moreÂ
- Use AI tools to help refine features, build prototypes, and help elevate and evolve the craft of UX at Roku by contributing new skills and AI-focused process innovations
- Own your designs and communicate effectively, articulating your design decisions to colleagues from diverse disciplinesÂ
- Give and receive feedback in regular design critiques with your peers and during formal design reviews with UX management
We're Excited If You Have- 3+ years of UX design experience focused on interaction design for consumer products. Experience designing a variety of features related to TV streaming services for consumer audiences is a big plus
- A proven track record in interaction design, showing artifacts of the process that help support your design decisions, as well as the business results driven by those designs
- Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and management to refine design concepts through rapid iterations, meeting the goals of both users and the business
- Hands-on experience working with User Researchers (or conducting User Research yourself) and utilizing the results of that research to shape your designsÂ
- Expertise in designing and prototyping with Figma
- Practical experience and personal enthusiasm for using AI tools throughout the UX design process, and for managing your work overallÂ
- A passion for getting the subtle details right when it comes to creating a high-performing, world-class experience
- Endless empathy for the user
- A degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
