Job Title: Clinical Nurse, LPN-DC Jail PT Night Shift
Location: Washington, DC

Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift Schedule:

  • Evening Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required

Summary

Under the clinical supervision of the Charge Nurse and under the guidance of the Lead Medication Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing support, obtaining vital signs and patient history, performing routine nursing procedures, assisting with clinical care, and supporting the overall delivery of patient-centered care within the DC Jail setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain vital signs and initial patient history.
  • Initiate the prescribed medical care plan for each patient.
  • Assist with obtaining consultations and referrals with other agencies, as appropriate.
  • Perform routine nursing procedures, including finger stick blood studies, urinalyses, pregnancy tests, and venipuncture, when appropriate.
  • Administer immunizations and demonstrate knowledge of vaccination techniques, where applicable.
  • Assist with clinical and medical procedures, including pelvic exams, incision and drainage, and wound care.
  • Record timely and accurate documentation of medication administration and treatments rendered.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Ensure adequate medications and supplies are ordered to support efficient health center operations.
  • Work and communicate with staff to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
