Unity Harbor Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a focus on geriatric mental health to join our remote team. This full-time position allows you to provide essential mental health services to elderly patients, helping them navigate the complexities of aging, loss, and life transitions. This role offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $95,000 per year, with the potential for a sign-on bonus.

This position is entirely remote, providing you with the flexibility to deliver care from your preferred location while maintaining strong connections with our outpatient facility in Brockton, Massachusetts. Our remote work setting promotes a healthy work-life balance, allowing you to integrate your professional and personal commitments effectively. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying their specific mental health care needs and developing appropriate intervention strategies.
• Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions to address various emotional challenges, such as grief, loneliness, and adjustment disorders related to aging.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of geriatric clients.
• Educate families and caregivers about mental health strategies that enhance emotional well-being and foster supportive environments for elderly individuals.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions to support residents and their families facing end-of-life challenges.
• Develop and lead cognitive stimulation activities and other therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing mental acuity and social engagement for elderly clients.

This role primarily serves an elderly population within the community, focusing on individuals coping with life transitions, bereavement, and the psychological effects of aging. You will work compassionately to understand the unique perspectives and needs of each client while integrating cultural sensitivity into your counseling practices.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid and active Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience providing mental health support and counseling specifically to geriatric clients.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based interventions tailored for older adults to improve mental health outcomes.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for effective engagement with elderly clients and their families.
• Strong assessment skills with a proven ability to design personalized treatment approaches based on individual client needs.
• A deep understanding of ethical and legal considerations surrounding geriatric mental health counseling.

• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is highly desirable.
• Experience with counseling techniques that address the complex psychosocial aspects of aging.
• Proficiency in using telehealth platforms and electronic health record systems to manage client information effectively.
