The Location:

Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui's Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua's Wailuku location is a 90-bed nursing facility.

The Position:

We're looking for passionate Unit Helpers interested in pursuing a path towards a Nurse Aide Certification to help us with providing nursing care and services for residents, that include personal and restorative care and activities of daily living.

  • Journey begins as a Unit Helper assisting Nurses and Certified Nurse Aides with tasks that do not involve personal care. Assisting with bed making, answering call lights, refilling water, and beverage containers, transporting residents within the facility.
  • Following completion of Certified Nurse Aide Training Program, Unit Helper is promoted to Nurse Aide (up to 120 days), providing nursing care and services for residents, that include personal and restorative care and activities of daily living. 120 day period will allow Nurse Aides to pass Prometric exam.
  • Upon passing Prometric exam, Ohana Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) will continue their journey orienting residents to the unit and facility: Bathroom, call system, shower schedule, and lanai/common areas; introduces residents at table; informs of meal schedule and snack times; and informs of activity calendar and where activities are held.
  • Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) respond to resident calls, call bells, call lights, alarms immediately. Responds to family requests immediately. Informs Charge Nurse when required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. / Minimum age of 18.
  • Current and valid 2 Step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
