Job description

Description:

The Unit Helper works under the direction of the unit manager or charge nurse. Shifts are 7am - 1 pm and 3pm - 7pm daily. This position involves performing the duties such as

  1. Makes unoccupied beds
  2. Turns down and gets pads for unoccupied beds
  3. Straightens out resident rooms to meet environmental standards.
  4. Passes fresh water in carafes.
  5. Pours ice water prior to meals.
  6. Transports residents to Activities, Dining Room, Podiatrist, Dentist, etc.
  7. Passes and prepares meal trays
  8. Records Intake & Output (I&O) and percent of meal consumed
  9. Answers call bells as directed
  10. Provides a safe, pleasant and clean environment for the residents at mealtime
  11. Cleans and washes wheelchairs as directed
Requirements:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

Should be good at taking direction and following through with required tasks.

Will be trained for the tasks outlined.


ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Experience with working with the elderly is preferred.


WORKING CONDITIONS

This job classification will involve occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Involves considerable walking, bending, standing, reaching, kneeling and mild lifting.
