Job description

Senior Software Engineer

At Jack Henry, we're more than a technology company; we're a force for good in financial services. We're redefining how community banks and credit unions connect with the people they serve. Our mission is rooted in people-inspired innovation, empowering financial institutions to deliver seamless, secure, and human-centered experiences. We deliver cutting-edge solutions that are paving the way for the next generation of digital banking and payments, but our true impact begins with our associates. If you're ready to help transform an industry and grow with a company that values purpose, collaboration, and excellence, then we'd love to meet you.

As part of the Card Management Delivery Team, you will be at the center of Jack Henry's Technology Modernization Strategy. In your daily activities as a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be a key contributor on our development team creating new financial applications and shared platform services. You will be using an innovative technology stack as well as engage daily with other Software engineers, DevOps engineers, Product owners, and Business Analysts, on your team and across the organization. The primary programming language is Go, and if you aren't familiar with it you'll have a chance to learn as you Go (pun very much intended).

Jack Henry is annually recognized as one of the best tech companies to work for in the U.S. by Forbes and other local sources! This is a fast-paced and fun work environment with a talented team engaging like a start-up company with the backing of a large, publicly traded company.

This is a remote position, and candidates must live within approximately a 70-mile radius of our office locations in Allen, TX; Louisville, KY; Birmingham, AL; Cedar Falls, IA; Charlotte, NC; Lenexa, KS; Springfield, MO; or Monett, MO.

This position is ineligible for immigration sponsorship and support. Please do not apply if at any time you will need immigration support now or in the future (i.e., H-1B, PERM).

May require occasional travel, up to 10% for meetings, trainings or conferences. All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity. Compensation for this position will be a base salary of $92,000- $140,000 depending on candidate experience and geographic location.

All positions, regardless of location, may require an onsite interview or in-person onboarding requirement to verify your identity.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Writing, testing, and delivering high-quality code to implement product features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participating in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and continuously improving the team's code quality.
  • Actively contributing to agile development practices including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Taking ownership of assigned tasks and proactively ensuring timely delivery of features through effective communication and collaboration with team members.
  • Completing product technical design and prototyping, software development, bug verification, and resolution.
  • Providing technical/engineering support for new and existing applications from code delivery until the retirement of the application.
  • Adhering to documented departmental and corporate standards. Overseeing the definition and documentation of standards. Contributing to defining and improving department processes.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to have:

  • A minimum of 6 years of software development including experience within back-end development using Microservices in.NET, C#, Java or Golang.
  • Experience with containerization using Kubernetes and CI/CD using either ArgoCD, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Must have experience developing cloud hosted applications (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with Git-based repositories.
  • Experience with Pub/Sub, Kafka, and Eventing in general.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • SQL database experience.
  • Key Vaults and Certificate Management experience.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity. Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement on this posting, we still encourage you to apply. We're looking for passionate, driven individuals who align with our mission and can bring unique perspectives to our team.
