Role:

Under general supervision, and following established policies and procedures, the Concierge and Security Liaison projects a warm and professional image as representative of the credit union in receiving members, employees, visitors, vendors, and other building tenants. In addition to welcoming guests, supports the Document Imaging and Records Management department with mailroom and records-related duties, and assists the Risk Management department by serving as a security liaison. Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles, of Team Up, Serve With Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It. Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Performs other duties as assigned by the Document Imaging and Records Manager.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • As the first point of contact at the AFCU Headquarters facility, projects a warm and professional image that reflects the credit union's commitment to member service. Contributes to a friendly and productive workplace while maintaining a secure environment by monitoring entrances and exits, verifying the identity of all visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining accurate access logs. Directs visitors to the appropriate location, notifies credit union personnel of arrivals, and ensures that only authorized individuals gain entry.
  • Takes an active role in the day-to-day operations of the Headquarters facility by assisting with building logistics and maintaining awareness of scheduled events. Oversees the HQ lobby, ensuring the area is consistently clean, neat, and hazard free, while also ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for all who enter. Polite, friendly and professional with AFCU employees, building tenants, and visitors to effectively support business needs and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Supports mailroom operations by receiving and logging packages and other delivered items at the front desk, ensuring nothing is left unattended at entry points u2014 a practice that reduces the risk of property crime and maintains a secure environment. May additionally assist with sorting incoming and outgoing mail and interdepartmental items to support the smooth day-to-day operations of the Headquarters facility.
  • During available time, supports the records management function by importing electronic documentation and classifying record types through data entry and filed form indexing.
  • Serves as a constant and vigilant presence at the AFCU Headquarters facility, maintaining awareness of lobby traffic and remaining continuously on the lookout for threats, unusual behavior, or anything that may compromise the safety of staff, members, and visitors. Reports any potential security concerns to the Risk Management department immediately.
  • Maintains knowledge of local resources and amenities that are available in the HQ building and in the surrounding Fairfax Corner area and responds to questions about these resources. Assists with any special requests.
  • Facilitates research requests for document retrieval, as time permits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the department manager. Including, but not limited to, the Apple Blood Drive.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience (12) twelve months of experience as a receptionist or working at a financial institution is preferred.
  • Education A high school education or GED.
  • Interpersonal Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and member/customer service skills.
  • Other Skills Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Demonstrates exceptional situational awareness without compromising operational efficiency or guest service. Ability to learn skills in de-escalating interactions, threat detection, and social engineering. Exercises absolute confidentiality when handling sensitive information and proprietary security protocols.
  • Physical Requirements Ability to lift 25 lbs., sit for long periods of time. Able to utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc. This position is not eligible for a remote work environment.
  • Work Environment Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment
