Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented UAS Technician to join our team in supporting the build and manufacture of Group 3 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This role is critical in the assembly, integration, and testing of aircraft and associated ground support equipment, ensuring high standards of quality and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical assembly, wiring, system integration, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble Group 3 UAS platforms and associated subsystems from components to fully functional systems.
- Manufacture, integrate, and test UAS airframes, payloads, avionics, propulsion, and ground control equipment.
- Perform wiring and mechanical integration following engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Build and modify wiring harnesses according to engineering drawings, ensuring all connections are reliable and meet project specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues during assembly and testing using instruments such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Software Configuration: Configure firmware and parameters and calibrate aircraft systems.
- Support functional checks, system-level integration, and ground testing of aircraft and GSE (Ground Support Equipment).
- Document assembly processes, modifications, and maintenance activities accurately and clearly.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and flight operations teams to ensure systems are built to specification and delivery timelines are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical school or associate’s degree in a related field preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in UAS, aerospace, aviation, or related technical manufacturing fields.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical assembly, soldering, crimping, and routing.
- Familiarity with UAS systems, avionics, sensors, power systems, and GSE components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in manufacturing/warehouse environments.
- U.S. Citizenship required; eligibility for DoD clearance may be preferred depending on the role.
- Ability to travel to support testing, integration, and customer-related activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Group 2–3 UAS platforms or small tactical UAS systems.
- Knowledge of composite airframe construction and repair.
- IPC certification (e.g., soldering or wire harnessing standards).
- Experience using ERP systems and documenting build processes.
