What is UAS assessment?

UAS Assessment typically refers to 'Unmanned Aircraft Systems Assessment,' which involves evaluating the performance, safety, and compliance of drone systems. This process includes testing the hardware and software components, ensuring regulatory requirements are met, and analyzing operational capabilities for various applications such as surveillance, mapping, or delivery. UAS assessors often work with manufacturers, government agencies, or private companies to ensure that drones are fit for their intended purpose and safe to operate in designated airspace.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a UAS assessment specialist?

To thrive as a UAS Assessment Specialist, you need a solid background in aviation, engineering, or electronics, often supported by a relevant degree and knowledge of FAA regulations. Familiarity with UAS operation software, flight planning tools, and certification such as Part 107 Remote Pilot License are typically required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help specialists conduct accurate assessments and share critical insights.
