Job description

As demand for behavioral health services continues to grow across military and TRICARE populations, Salma is expanding its focus on serving active duty military members, veterans, and military families through strategic partnerships, referral network development and operational enablement.

This individual will be responsible for developing referral relationships, expanding provider access pathways, and building strategic partnerships across military treatment facilities (MTFs), TRICARE-affiliated provider networks, behavioral health providers, health systems, and community referral sources.

This is not a traditional sales role. Success in this position requires deep understanding of how military and TRICARE referrals actually flow, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex provider and referral ecosystems. The ideal candidate has experience working within TRICARE, military healthcare, behavioral health outreach, provider relations, managed care, or military treatment facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Build and Grow TRICARE Referral Relationships

  • Develop relationships with:

    • Military treatment facilities (MTFs)

    • Referral coordinators

    • Behavioral health leaders

    • TRICARE-affiliated providers

    • Community psychiatrists and therapists

    • Case managers and care coordinators

  • Educate referral sources on Salmaโ€™s behavioral health and interventional psychiatry capabilities

  • Position Salma as a rapid-access specialty partner for treatment-resistant mental health conditions

Drive Referral Volume and Market Growth

  • Develop and execute territory growth plans for military and TRICARE markets

  • Increase patient referrals across TMS, SAINT, IOP, and related programs

  • Identify underserved regions, provider shortages, and referral bottlenecks

  • Establish consistent referral pipelines from military and civilian behavioral health providers

  • Track referral conversion performance and identify opportunities to improve patient access

Develop Strategic Partnerships

  • Support partnership development with:

    • Health systems

    • Behavioral health groups

    • Primary care providers

    • Independent psychiatry and therapy practices

    • Military-affiliated provider organizations

    • Emergency departments

    • Inpatient psychiatric units

    • PHPs

    • Outpatient behavioral health clinics.

  • Assist in identifying partnership opportunities that improve TRICARE patient access and care coordination

  • Stand-up clinic services to support the needs of the TRICARE population

Collaborate with Internal Teams

  • Work closely with intake, operations, and clinical leadership teams to streamline referral workflows

  • Help improve referral intake processes, scheduling coordination, and provider communication

  • Ensure referral sources receive timely follow-up and clinical updates

  • Identify opportunities to add Salma services in geographies that support population demand

Represent Salma in the Market

  • Attend industry events, military healthcare conferences, and provider meetings

  • Serve as a trusted relationship lead within military and behavioral health communities

  • Help shape Salmaโ€™s long-term military and TRICARE growth strategy

Support Local Market Development

  • Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to localize messaging and co-host provider-facing events.

  • Track and analyze referral funnel performance to optimize high-performing channels and relationships.

CRM & Performance Tracking

  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activity, referrals, and conversion metrics in CRM systems.

  • Build and maintain dashboards tracking referral volume, partner engagement, and provider satisfaction.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:

    • TRICARE provider relations

    • Military healthcare

    • Behavioral health business development

    • Managed care provider engagement

    • Healthcare referral development

    • Military treatment facility operations

  • Existing relationships within military, TRICARE, behavioral health, or provider referral ecosystems

  • Demonstrated success growing provider referrals or strategic healthcare partnerships

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health referral workflows and care coordination

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with:

    • TriWest Healthcare Alliance

    • Humana Military

    • Military treatment facilities

    • Behavioral health or interventional psychiatry programs

  • Experience supporting TMS, IOP, psychiatric, or specialty behavioral health services

  • Familiarity with Southern California military markets including San Diego

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health, primary care, or specialty care environments.

  • Demonstrated success driving referral growth within clinical or healthcare settings.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, field-oriented role.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position includes:

  • Compensation: The base salary range for this position is $80,000โ€“$100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance-based incentive bonus, with total target compensation of approximately $150,000 annually for candidates performing at or above expectations.

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, and additional benefits.
