Job description

This position is responsible for the shipping and receiving of all products and supplies for the Blood Center.  This position is also responsible for the delivery of all inventory orders and supplies to designated laboratories and work areas, maintaining adequate and accurate inventory levels, and the monthly inventory counts.

  • Unloading and maintaining shipment integrity through obtaining proper documentation.
  • Obtains signed packing slips from business units.
  • Orders shipping supplies as directed.
  • Logs purchase orders and enter shipping and receiving information into computerized shipments.
  • Maintains inventory records of all supplies/products in the receiving area.
  • Provide positive customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Examine shipping containers for damage prior to accepting them for delivery.
  • Manage all damaged products according to established procedures.
  • Assures products received are correct in description and quantity by comparing the packing slip against the purchase order.
  • Distributes products to departments and performs all record keeping functions associated with product distribution.
  • Performs inventory Cycle counts.
  • Assures that items are received properly and added into the inventory system accurately.
  • Ensures receiving area is clean and organized.
  • Any related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Three years of experience in warehouse. Experience with shipping and receiving is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Forklift certification a plus or willing to be trained.

Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hiring rate is $22.04p/hr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
