Job description

Forester (RPF) Description Frontier Resource Management is a Hopland based forestry consulting business with a focus on timber harvest plans, fuels reduction projects, botany surveys, timber inventory, and various other forest management plans. Most projects are based in Mendocino, Lake, Sonoma, and Napa Counties. The ideal candidate currently possesses or will have their RPF License within one year. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Timber harvest plan layout, writing, and administration • Manage forestry technicians during plan layout, tree marking, and grant project administration • Draft forest management, oak woodland restoration, and wildfire mitigation plans • Design and implement forest inventories and appraisals • Manage road and utility hazard tree removal projects • Prepare and manage the development of environmental documents and treatment prescriptions to support various federal and state forestry grants • Professional map creation and geodatabase management • Administer all types of forestry operations Required Qualifications • Timber harvest plan writing and administration experience • Northern California tree species identification • Proficient with Avenza, Fieldmaps, Arcpro, and all forestry field measurement tools • Ability to work independently or collaboratively while navigating rugged terrain under adverse weather conditions • Must be self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and a positive attitude • Ability to safely operate truck and ATV • Possession of a valid driver’s license and clean driving record • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel • Skills in map reading and orienteering Desired Experience, Qualifications & Skills • RPF License • B.S.

or M.S. in Forestry or closely related field • Crew lead experience • Experience preparing CEQA and NEPA environmental documents • Experience conducting botany surveys • Experience managing forest treatments under state and federal grants Work Conditions This position requires both field and office work. Field work involves hiking through remote mountainous terrain in wet, slippery, uneven, brushy, steep, unstable conditions.

Exposure to noise, dust, wildlife, poison oak, pollen, insects, and all types of weather conditions are possible. This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment and frequently hike, reach, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, and grasp. Compensation Salary is competitive and dependent on experience.
