Job Overview:
Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking a full-time Traveling Solar Technician. This position requires overnight travel on a frequent basis depending on company needs. The Traveling Solar Technician must have the ability to work safely at high quality with electrical & mechanical components, issues and concerns.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Perform a full range of diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and oversight of issues that may arise at a solar farm across the US
  • Ability to diagnose a full range of solar service issues
  • Provide outstanding customer experience. The Solar Technician will be customer facing and must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times
  • Ability to travel using own vehicle or in company owned vehicle
  • Participate in staff meetings and assist with broader company initiatives
  • Provide daily reports
  • Effectively use hand and power tools
  • Effectively use a laptop and a variety of programs/applications
  • Learn and understand basic low voltage electrical systems
  • Operate machinery/equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, rock drills, jack hammers, compressors, generators, winches
  • Troubleshoot technical issues
  • Clean, maintain, and inventory company owned tools/equipment
  • Act professionally in remote areas, on active construction sites, or in the office
  • Think creatively and encourage open-mindedness
  • Continually drive self-improvement and motivate excellence in coworkers
  • Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Drive long distances in heavy work trucks, often with trailers in tow

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year working in the renewable energy industry or relevant experience from another industry
  • Great safety track record
  • Knowledge of all major solar and energy storage products
  • Training on top tier inverters a plus
  • Must be highly organized and punctual
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license and pass background check and physical
  • Must have the ability to work though issues and troubleshoot safely
  • Accommodate frequent travel
  • Work as a member of a small team, as well as independently in the field
  • Must be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to: standing, stooping, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time. Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body
  • Lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks
  • Lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday
  • Sustain prolonged exposure to extreme weather and environmental conditions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots).
  • Must pass a physical exam if required.
  • Able to:
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations).
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (Use assistance for heavier loads).
    • Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel).
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE when required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Predominantly outdoor work
  • Exposure to:
    • Extreme heat or cold

PAY EQUITY
Hourly Rate: $24-$30/hour
