Summary of the role:



GRID Alternatives Offices are installing on a number of commercial projects and or rehab's across Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange County California.


We are seeking several Project Based Installers (TEMPORARY) to join our Los Angeles office. The Temporary Project Based Solar Installer will be responsible for assisting with the installation of photovoltaic (PV) and battery (BESS) systems on residential and commercial properties, working alongside tribal workforce trainees and Grid Alternatives staff.



Location: THIS PROJECT IS BASED IN SYLMAR, CA 91342


Dates: Installation to take place from September 21, 2026-October 19, 2026

What you will be doing (essential responsibilities):


  • Assist in the installation of rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systemsย ย ย 
  • Mount and wire solar panels, inverters, and other system components according to project specifications.ย 
  • Follow all safety procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA and NEC standards.ย 
  • Troubleshoot and assist in resolving any technical issues that arise during installations.ย 
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive work environment that aligns with GRID Alternatives mission.ย 
  • Logistics & Site Coordinationย 
  • Support site preparation, including staging materials and ensuring all necessary tools are available.ย 
  • Assist in loading, unloading, and transporting materials to job sites.ย 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.ย 

Requirements

Your areas of knowledge and expertise...


  • Hands-on experience in solar installation, electrical work, or construction.ย 
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of solar PV systems and installation techniques.ย 
  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, work on rooftops, and perform tasks in various weather conditions.ย 
  • Safety Awareness: Understanding of basic safety protocols; commitment to maintaining a safe job site.ย 
  • Travel & Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%) to project sites
  • Teamwork & Communication: Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with diverse groups.ย 
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving recordย 


It would be great if you also had...


  • Solar installation experience, electrical experience, general construction experienceย ย 
  • Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better placeย 
  • Ability to work well with others and demonstrate a safe and positive construction site.ย ย 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; NABCEP Associate Certification is a plus.ย 


Compensation:



The Prevailing hourly wage for this TEMPORARY Project Based position is $22.00.ย

The ideal candidate will be located in or around ย Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange County California. . GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
