Job description

Job Description:
Chewy is hiring a Transportation Manager. This role is within the Outbound Transportation team and will report to the Associate Director, Regional Outbound Transportation. This individual will be responsible for the direction of Chewy hourly associates in the Transportation Coordinator and Switcher Driver roles as well as serving as the onsite Transportation liaison to FC AMs and Oms. Responsibilities include meeting and exceeding the established safety, quality, efficiency, labor, and engagement objectives. You will be successful in this role because you are passionate about training, guiding, and supporting your team and recognize their effort and achievements! You also understand how to find, analyze, and apply data in all your decision making.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead the scheduling of Transportation Coordinators (TCs) and Switcher Drivers to meet FC operational needs.
  • Coordinate the safety, training, and certification of the Switcher Program.
  • Train and mentor TCs to meet all safety, quality, and efficiency metrics (Recordable Incidents, CPT Compliance, Trailer Close Compliance, Not Tendered, UOMs, MNRs, BOLs, Trailer Status Reporting).
  • Support the local carrier (FedEx, OnTrac, Purchased) relationship to provide daily service and quality feedback and address operational issues.
  • Review and approve weekly Kronos employee timesheets and vendor invoices in Oracle.
  • Handle employee questions and concerns and follow up with the intent to maintain a positive work environment and earn trust.
  • Point person for our switch tractor vendor for day to day activities, unit hours reporting, and scheduling of preventive maintenance.
  • Optimize fueling schedules with local vendors to reduce delivery charges.
  • Complete vital documentation for supervising attendance, efficiency, behavior, and safety.
  • Be able to deep dive within a process and drive process improvements through associate feedback, analyzing data, and up channeling changes to acquire departmental goals.

What You'll Need:
  • 1-3 years' supervisory experience preferably in a logistics, warehouse, or distribution center environment (degree preferred).
  • Excellent social skills, oral and written communication skills, and strong attention to detail!
  • Capable in Excel, Word, Outlook, Webex, and High Jump. Tableau and SQL knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs indicate.
  • Position may require some travel (<10%).

The base salary range for this role is $83,000 - $132,500.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
