Your Role:
The Transportation Analystis responsible for managing, analyzing, and optimizing truck and intermodal transportation operations. This role supports Ardent Mills' internal and external customers and drives the execution of the transportation strategy. The Transportation Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining strong relationships with carriers by monitoring performance, analyzing freight data, and providing actionable insights to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely deliveries. The transportation analyst supports personnel safety and food safety through adherence to all safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Freight Management:
  • Monitor the performance of truck carriers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Conduct carrier evaluations via quarterly business reviews and carrier scorecards, ensuring service levels and contractual obligations are met.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and carriers to resolve any service issues or delays.
  • Optimize carrier network for cost-effective and top tier service delivery via RFPs.
  • Analyze shipping patterns using TMS and Load Tracking systems. Recommend carrier adjustments to maximize service and minimize cost.

Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to truck transportation, including shipment costs, delivery times, and carrier performance.
  • Prepare regular reports on transportation metrics, including key performance indicators (KPIs), cost analysis, and service levels.
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the transportation network. Develop action plans that improve gaps and underperformance.
  • Track and analyze freight expenses, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

Process Improvement:
  • Participate in monthly reviews to develop action plans for load service metrics and operational stability KPIs
  • Suggest and implement solutions that can streamline operations and enhance tracking, reporting, and delivery processes.

Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure carriers compliance with regulatory requirements related to truck transportation, including DOT regulations, safety standards, and environmental rules.
  • Ensure carriers compliance with Ardent Mills safety and food safety rules and processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, invoices, and contracts related to transportation.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain, operations, sales, warehousing, procurement, and customer service teams to ensure seamless transportation operations.
  • Communicate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate truck deliveries and resolve issues.
  • Participate on cross functional continuous improvement initiatives as required.

Essential skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in transportation or logistics, with a focus on truck transportation.
  • Proven experience analyzing transportation data and managing relationships with carriers or third-party logistics providers.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is essential.
  • Experience with transportation management software (TMS) is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of truck transportation operations, including routing, fleet management, and freight regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams.

Good to have:
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma) are a plus.
  • Experience working for a carrier or third-party logistics company
  • Experience with bulk transportation.
  • Experience in food logistics.
  • Cross border or dedicated freight experience
  • Experience negotiating rates and contracts

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Ability to be on call after hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
