Operations Manager - Attalla, AL.

Manage all warehouse operations within a fast-paced foodservice distribution environment, including budgeting, labor planning, inventory management, equipment utilization, safety, sanitation, and customer service execution. This leader is responsible for creating a high-performance culture that prioritizes operational excellence, behavioral-based safety, employee engagement, and talent development. The Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring people, processes, and technology align to meet service expectations, food safety standards, and company objectives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of supervisors and warehouse associates through coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning, and career development initiatives
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and inclusive culture that promotes employee engagement, retention, teamwork, and operational excellence
  • Champion a Behavioral-Based Safety approach by actively coaching safe work practices, conducting safety observations, leading incident investigations, and driving proactive risk reduction initiatives
  • Operate the facility in compliance with health, safety, and environment regulations to establish and practice a culture of safety among the team members at all times
  • Manage warehouse operations including receiving, storage, replenishment, order selection, shipping, inventory control, and product rotation to maintain service levels and minimize waste
  • Analyze operational reports to identify trends and recommend solutions to management
  • Develop labor strategies that align staffing levels with forecasted demand, seasonal fluctuations, and service requirements
  • Monitor and analyze operational KPIs including productivity, safety performance, inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, shrink, employee retention, and customer service metrics
  • Partner with Transportation, Sales, Inventory Control, Human Resources, Safety, and Operations leadership to ensure seamless execution across the supply chain
  • Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline through effective hiring, onboarding, training, and leadership development programs.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years warehouse operations or direct warehouse management experience
  • Experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Demonstrated management skills with emphasis on guiding and developing a team, customer service, communications, and planning
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and employees of the organization
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit/-25 Celsius in cold storage sites or up to 100 Fahrenheit/37 Celsius in dry storage sites while wearing company provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs./18 kgs.; weight may be more dependent upon facility
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shift, including weekends if needed
  • Must be comfortable with various noise levels, at times, can be loud
