Job description

Primary Duties:

The House Lead will provide supervision of the residents of the House, prepare meals, clean the house and other daily tasks. The House Lead will directly supervise the staff at the house by scheduling, planning, assigning and directing the work of assigned staff. The House Lead is responsible for assuring that all shifts are covered by regular or PRN staff, provide orientation and ongoing training at Lion House for all new employees.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide supervision and interact with House Residents.

  • Cook breakfast and/or dinner for Residents.

  • Provide housing case management and conflict resolution services to all residents of the Lion House Program, using the strengths-based case management approach.

  • Maintain a clean environment as necessary i.e. cleaning house areas, office area, laundering linens and completing other household tasks as needed and/or assigned.

  • Maintain daily documentation of services provided and client confidentiality.

  • Attend all required staff meetings or make other arrangements with House Lead, and maintain communications with other staff members, both written and oral.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with Clients and Residents.

  • Work collaboratively with Our Spot KC and Lion House staff to provide clients, residents and community members with the best possible services and programs.

  • Maintain documentation of all services provided.

  • Connect Residents with supportive services and resources, providing a warm hand-off when possible.

  • Interact with Residents, Clients and other professionals in a respectful and professional manner.

  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with Residents and Clients.

  • Complete necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the first day of employment.

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field is preferred, with 1–5 years of experience in homeless services, case management, or working with vulnerable populations.

  • Must have the ability to provide immediate, on-site crisis intervention and maintain a safe, sober, and structured living environment.
  • Preferred experience with intake assessments, developing service plans, and proficiency in database systems (e.g., HMIS) to track resident progress.
  • Must have have the ability to lead house meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a supportive, respectful community culture and familiarity with community resources, social service systems, and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience with operating systems (Windows or MacOS), Office suites (MS or G Suite), Presentation software (PowerPoint or similar), Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Etc.) and other case management software as needed.

  • Be driven, self starter, accountable, organized, and compassionate.

  • Ideal candidates will have experience in working with LGBTQ+ populations, have worked previously in social services and/or housing sectors.

  • Ability to provide direct services to clients, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable access to transportation.

  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.

The House Lead is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Transitional Housing Program for LGBTQ+ clients. The House Lead will work with LGBTQ+ clients in the Lion House Program to support them with eliminating barriers, acquire necessary documentation, provide accountability for goals set by clients, and facilitate conflict resolution.
