Description:

Title: Store Director


Status: Full-time; Salaried; Exempt


Reports To: District Director/Corporate Office Directors


Job Summary: To oversee daily operations and administration of the store, including financial results and profitability. To supervise all staff activities, ensure the safety and security of staff and customers, make executive decisions regarding merchandising and advertising, and provide excellent customer service.



Essential Functions and Duties:


  • Plan, organize, direct and control all aspects of daily operations to ensure that each department is operating efficiently


  • Prepare and submit store projections and budgets


  • Interview candidates for employment and ensure that all positions are adequately filled


  • Make executive decisions regarding hiring, discipline and termination of employees
  • Observe and enforce all company policies and procedures regarding daily operations, including new hire orientation, employee training, accident reporting, attendance, and dress code


  • Ensure procedures are followed to maintain the health, safety and security of all employees and customers of Save-a-Lot


  • Model excellent customer service and exemplary conduct to other staff members


  • Handle customer complaints professionally, and attempt to achieve a positive resolution


  • Work through department managers to ensure that processes are in place to see that adequate inventory is maintained, meat and produce are monitored for freshness, and deliveries are verified for accuracy


  • Travel to corporate office for regularly scheduled meetings and training sessions


  • Perform other duties and tasks as required by management



Requirements:

Required Skills, Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent


  • At least ten (10) years experience in retail management


  • Active certificate in operating power jack


  • Must have effective interpersonal and diplomatic skills and be able to communicate verbally and in writing to corporate ownership, vendors, other members of management and employees


  • Must be proficient in math and grammar skills.


  • Must be able to operate a computer efficiently, and utilize Save-a-Lotโ€™s spreadsheet, accounting, word processing and e-mail systems. Must be able to quickly learn other software programs.


  • Must be able to operate a cash register, bailer, electric jack, hand jack and a variety of cleaning and maintenance tools and equipment. Must have active certificate in operating power.


Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:


Employee must regularly:


  • Walk a distance of approximately 50 yards on a tile or concrete surface


  • Sit at a desk for periods of 30-60 minutes while completing paperwork or working at the computer


  • Stand for 20-30 minutes at a time while assisting at register


  • Bend or twist while stocking merchandise on shelves


  • Push or pull while stocking merchandise on shelves and using hand jack


  • Speak and hear when communicating with customers, employees and vendors


  • See to complete paperwork or computer work, to run register, and to observe daily operations


Employee must occasionally:


  • Lift up to 50 lbs to a height of approximately 5 feet


  • Carry up to 50 lbs a distance of approximately 5 feet


While performing this job, employee is regularly exposed to both inside and outside temperatures in a variety of weather conditions, with concrete or tile flooring and a low to moderate noise level.
