Description
  • Work Performed: Provide continued care and supervision of program participant included but not limited to toileting, personal care, feeding, transfer and ambulation training. Assist program participant to/from transportation vehicle when arriving at or leaving the center. Maintain weights and blood pressures on assigned participant (if certified). Assist with the planning, set-up and implementation of individualized activity plan. Assist with the necessary maintenance of the program area. Other duties as may be assigned.
    Equipment Used: Appropriate therapeutic equipment (included but not limited to hoyer lift, gait belt, walker, wheelchair, thera-bands/putty, dumbbell/ankle weights sets). Blood pressure cuff and stethoscope (if certified). Various equipment may also be used related to activities, i.e. card games, art& crafts supplies, etc. Telephone and use of copy machine may also be required.
    Position Qualification: Current (California) certificate as a nurses assistant, home health aide or medical assistance OR one year recent experience working with disabled adults in a rehabilitation/neuro and/or geriatric setting. Must have mature judgment as well as decision making skills needed to supervise participant. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to participant with various therapeutic activities. CPR and First Aide certification required. Must be able to perform all job functions.
    Essential Functions Of The Job: Ability to provide for the direct care of assigned program participants (as well as visual/auditory supervision to ensure the safety and welfare of the participant at all times). Ability to assist Program Coordinator with the implementation of both indoor and outdoor program activities. Must have good writing and verbal communications in order to communicate clearly with participants, families and staff.. Must be able to speak and understand English proficiently in order to communicate with the dominant language of the consumers. Must project a positive company image by maintaining a professional appearance, attire, attitude, and conduct.
    Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, lift, transfer, and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, push as needed to provide direct care/assistance to participants. Visual and auditory skills acceptable for providing supervision. Ability to walk on varied terrain which includes carpet, tile, concrete, dirt, and grass. Ability to comfortable assist/instruct participants in aquatic exercises (which includes ability to be in warm water 90 to 92 degrees for up to one hour at a time). Ability to work within the program area which includes reaching for charts, supplies and retrieving and replacing items on shelves.
    Method of Pay: Hourly, NON-EXEMPT
    Hours of Work: 30 Hours/Week (hours vary depending upon shift and program assignment)
