Mt. San Antonio Gardens is seeking a per-diem compassionate, energetic, and creative Life Enrichment Program Assistant to help enhance the quality of life for our residents. Under the supervision of the Life Enrichment Coordinator, this position assists in developing, organizing, and implementing meaningful recreational, social, educational, and wellness programs for residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care settings.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, including individuals with cognitive impairments, and is committed to promoting engagement, independence, dignity, and well-being through person-centered activities. This position is on a per diem status and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating resident activities, special events, and outings.
  • Set up and arrange rooms, furniture, and supplies for scheduled programs and events.
  • Develop positive relationships with residents and become familiar with their interests, preferences, and abilities.
  • Encourage resident participation and independence through meaningful individual and group activities.
  • Provide one-on-one visits and socialization opportunities with residents.
  • Read to residents, assist with letter writing, play games, and engage in conversation and companionship.
  • Assist with resident transportation for activities and special events.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Maintain attendance records and document program participation and outcomes.
  • Prepare and distribute activity calendars, newsletters, and resident communications.
  • Report resident concerns, needs, and observations to the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
  • Assist in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and attractive environment, including care of indoor plants and activity areas.
  • Attend department meetings, staff meetings, and mandatory training sessions.
  • Follow all Mt. San Antonio Gardens and Oak Tree Lodge policies, procedures, and dress code requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Activity Director or Social Services Designee Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with older adults, including individuals with cognitive impairments.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for days, evenings, holidays and/or weekends
  • Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
