Job Title: Training & Workforce Development Specialist

Industry: Transportation / Public Infrastructure

Location (city, state): Landover Hills, MD

Assignment Type: Contract (1+ year)

Pay: $48 - $50 / hour

Work Schedule: Full-time, onsite position. 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Occasional non-traditional hours may be required based on operational training needs.

Job Description:

Addison Group is seeking a Training & Workforce Development Specialist to help build and enhance training programs, systems, and processes within a growing transportation organization. This role will work closely with Human Resources, Operations, Maintenance, and Safety teams to develop workforce training strategies, manage compliance requirements, and ensure employees have the knowledge and skills needed to perform successfully.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating training programs from the ground up, improving processes, managing compliance-driven training initiatives, and partnering with cross-functional teams. Candidates with backgrounds in transportation, logistics, manufacturing, construction, aviation, utilities, or other highly regulated industries are encouraged to apply.

This position requires a confident communicator who can effectively influence stakeholders, train leaders, and drive adoption of new processes in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement workforce training strategies that support business goals, safety initiatives, and employee development.
  • Build, standardize, and maintain training programs, curricula, and learning processes.
  • Coordinate internal and external training programs while ensuring quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Track employee certifications, training completion, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and HR teams to identify training needs and skill gaps.
  • Analyze training effectiveness and develop reporting metrics for leadership.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives, including employee development and succession planning efforts.
  • Train and coach managers, supervisors, and employees on processes, systems, and development programs.
  • Maintain training records and documentation for audit readiness.
  • Assist with training vendor coordination, contracts, and related administrative processes.
  • Ensure training programs align with applicable transportation and safety regulations.
  • Support emergency preparedness training, drills, and corrective action initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in training, workforce development, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and implementing training programs, processes, and systems from the ground up.
  • Background in transportation, transit, logistics, manufacturing, construction, aviation, utilities, or another regulated industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements and workforce development strategies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience managing data-driven reporting.
  • Experience with learning management systems and training documentation platforms preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Confident and proactive approach with the ability to navigate change and pushback.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Must possess a valid Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
