Training and Development  (TIDE) Coordinator

Galen Medical Group offers several medical specialties throughout the Chattanooga region. We provide quality care and patient-friendly services to adults and children of all ages.

This is a training position for CMA, Phlebotomy, and Clerical roles across Galen Medical Group.   Training experience is required for consideration.

Summary/Objective:

The TIDE Coordinator will assist with creating, developing, implementing, and conducting training and development programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of Galen employees.

Essential Functions:  

  • Ability to train clerical, clinical, and phlebotomy roles with Galen Medical Group.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner that is professional and representative of the Executive team at Galen Medical Group.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conducts and leads training and related developmental activities needed to support operational objectives for staff.
  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, educational videos, and course materials for employees.
  • Ensures the scheduling and coordination of training for new employees.
  • Ensures that the training and education programs maximize employee competency and outcomes.
  • Conduct unbiased written competency and skills assessments on new and established employees.
  • Consults on organizational procedures and workflows by helping management to identify performance problems that can be solved through the training or remediation of the employee, suggesting alternative solutions, or providing appropriate learning experiences.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues related to training programs including but not limited to: Electronic Medical Records and Medical Practice Management systems (PCIS).
  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including individual, group discussion, simulations, and videos.
  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
  • Assists in identifying and training qualified staff trainers to plan, develop, and present material as appropriate for on-site training.
  • Assists employees and staff trainers when they are in the field.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Maintains correspondence and stays updated with the HIT department to keep knowledge of new functions, changes, and troubleshooting issues with all relevant systems.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of clerical, clinical, and phlebotomy roles with Galen Medical Group.
  • Understands and abides by OSHA, HIPAA & CLIA standards.
  • Must have expert knowledge in field of practice and perform proficiently in all competency areas.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the clinical healthcare facility.
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
  • Must understand and follow company policies and compliance procedures.
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Galen Medical Group’s Code of Conduct.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members throughout the organization.
  • Adapts to using a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
  • Ability to help design and implement effective training and development. 
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience working in a medical practice.
  • Required Active Certified Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist.
  • Must have a have an active CPR certification.
  • Highschool Diploma/GED required.
  • Experience with medical practice management and electronic medical record systems.
  • Skilled in performing all functions required for a medical practice to operate.
