Are you passionate about learning, growth, and helping people reach their full potential? At Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI), we're looking for a dynamic Training & Development Manager to lead and elevate our organizational learning strategy.
In this role, you won't just manage training, you'll shape a culture of continuous learning, empower staff, and directly support the mission of an organization committed to strengthening communities and changing lives.
What You'll Do
As our Training & Development Manager, you will:
  • Design & Lead Strategy
    • Create, execute, and evaluate innovative learning programs across VOAMI
    • Align training initiatives with organizational goals and strategic direction
  • Build & Manage Training Programs
    • Oversee curriculum development, training resources, and evaluation tools
    • Deliver engaging training through in-person, virtual, and blended platforms
    • Manage training schedules, calendars, and program budgets
  • Own the Learning Experience
    • Administer and optimize the Learning Management System (LMS)
    • Track training completion, analyze data, and measure program effectiveness
    • Ensure all compliance and mandatory trainings are completed
  • Elevate Leadership Development
    • Support and enhance structured leadership training programs
    • Help managers strengthen leadership competencies and performance
  • Champion Learning Culture
    • Promote professional development opportunities across the agency
    • Introduce modern learning tools (e-learning, video, social platforms, etc.)
    • Inspire a culture of growth, accountability, and excellence
  • Operational Excellence
    • Maintain accurate training records and reporting systems
    • Recommend training tools, materials, and facility improvements

What You Bring
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication-both written and verbal
  • Confidence presenting and facilitating training sessions
  • Ability to adapt and work flexible hours when needed (including occasional evenings/weekends)

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication, Human Services, Business, or related field
    (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in training, learning & development, or related field
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (Relias preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License with acceptable driving record

Work Environment
  • Hybrid of on-site and remote office work
  • Regular use of computer systems and training technology
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, and present as needed
