Job description

Training & Development Specialist – Auburn Hills, MI

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for assessing organizational training needs, designing custom curriculum, implementing training programs, and overseeing development. This individual will create in-person or online, self-guided and collaborative learning programs. set performance metrics, facilitate workshops, manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) evaluate productivity, and help employees create short- and long-term career plans within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and coordinate training programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Work with internal customers to identify training and development needs.
  • Design, prepare, and coordinate training materials, including manuals, online modules (Vizendo), DOJO, and presentations.
  • Plan and coordinate training schedules, Cornerstone, and track participation.
  • Plan and coordinate new hire employee onboarding materials.
  • Specific tasks may include reviewing vendor proposals, monitoring the quality of material, managing costs, and assessing program effectiveness.
  • Work with training providers to develop suitable content for all training courses.
  • Create a training center on the intranet to serve as a resource hub for all employees, featuring manuals, multimedia, and other educational materials.
  • Develop a systematic approach to track all training courses being taken, including training schedules and the cost of training.
  • Conduct train-the-trainer programs as needed.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and work with managers on providing all necessary resources for on-boarding.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a training and development role or related experience
  • Bachelor's degree (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • Knowledge of learning principles, adult learning theories, and curriculum development. DOJO
  • 3+ years of experience with LMS Platforms, including Cornerstone, virtual meeting tools
  • Experience with Training & Development on the manufacturing floor
  • MS Office Suite
  • Strong negotiation (a proven track record)
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • A strategic thinker
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Demonstrated success in handling multiple tasks with an awareness of deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (able to interact with internally and externally facing customers)

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

Preferred Kills / Qualifications

  • PHR and/or SPHR preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
