Job description

At The Jackson Laboratory (JAX), social media is one of the ways we bring our discoveries into the world. It helps us share the science, ideas and stories that show what's possible, connect with the audiences who can help move our mission forward, and strengthen how JAX shows up across the biomedical research landscape.

You'll help match the right content to the right audiences across channels, build audience personas, support major campaigns and events, and partner with content expertsto turn complex science, institutional priorities, videos and philanthropic stories into social-first content.

The right person is a thoughtful strategist and natural momentum-builder with strong social media judgment. You should be comfortable advising leaders, working with expert content partners, using data to sharpen the work, growing relevant audiences, and staying focused in a collaborative environment where a lot of people care deeply about how JAX shows up.

This role may be performed remotely within the U.S., with preference for candidates who can regularly work East Coast business hours. Occasional travel, up to 10%, is expected for JAX events, conferences, campus visits and social media coverage needs. Writing samples may be requested as part of the interview process.

  • Progressive experience in social media, digital communications, or integrated content marketing.

  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated social media strategies tied to measurable organizational outcomes.

  • Experience building audience personas and matching content strategies to distinct audiences, platforms, and engagement goals.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and audience engagement skills.

  • Experience with social analytics, social listening, and reporting tools used to measure and improve engagement performance.

  • Strong visual and video content instincts, including experience supporting social-first video and multimedia engagement.

  • Sound judgment managing public-facing communications, reputational considerations, and sensitive issues.

  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, matrixed, and collaborative environment.

  • Experience within biomedical research, healthcare, higher education, life sciences, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
