Tour Guide City Manager / D.C. Site Manager

Location: Washington, D.C. (On-site)

As a world-class tour operator, we offer top-rated experiences, from our National Mall Sunset Walking Tour and Capitol Hill Guided Tours to our Arlington Cemetery and Georgetown Spies and Ghosts walking tours. We are looking for an organized and reliable Weekday Tour Guide Manager to act as our D.C. Site Manager and ensure our weekday operations run flawlessly.


Job Overview: We are seeking a highly organized Weekday Tour Guide Manager to oversee our standard operations during the week. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for our amazing team of local tour guides and the operational backbone of our D.C. tours. You will handle scheduling, payroll processing, and ongoing administrative duties to ensure our guests have an unforgettable experience exploring the capital.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Site Management: Act as the primary site manager and operational point of contact for our Washington D.C. tours during the week.
  • Tour Guiding: You must be able to give every historical tour within our catalog across all major DC Sites and Landmarks
  • Guide Scheduling: Manage the primary weekly schedule for all standard tours (including walking, museum, and seasonal tours) and assign guides efficiently based on bookings.
  • Recruiting & Training: Actively hire, onboard, and train new tour guides to ensure our team delivers high-quality, engaging, and historically accurate experiences.
  • Emergency & Last-Minute Guiding: Personally cover and lead tours if there is no other guide available, and act as the designated last-minute cover for any tour bookings which means you will need to be within a short distance of travel to major DC landmarks.
  • Payroll Processing: Ensure all guides and local staff are paid accurately and on time for their completed tours.
  • Guide Point of Contact: Serve as the main liaison for our guides regarding schedule adjustments, general questions, and daily on-the-ground operations.
  • Tour Creation & Development: Research, design, and implement new, engaging tour routes and historical experiences to expand our D.C. catalog.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in team management, scheduling, leading guided tours or operations (experience in tourism, hospitality, or events is a huge plus!).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, specifically with scheduling and processing payroll.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to act as a reliable point of contact for our guides.
  • Familiarity with Washington D.C. and our popular tour locations (National Mall, Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Arlington Cemetery) is preferred.
  • Public speaking experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree (Hospitality/Tourism is a huge plus)


Compensation Structure:

  • Base Pay: $500-1000 per week for your managerial, administrative, tour guiding and scheduling duties.
  • Guiding Pay: $40 per hour plus any guest tips for every tour you personally guide.
