Tooling Technician

As the Tooling Technician, you will be responsible for managing new and existing tooling in order to support the machining requirements. In this position, you ensure the ability of production personnel to provide high-quality, timely maintenance and customer service by having needed tooling, equipment, and supplies available to them, in good repair and on demand.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Manage changes, repairs, and improvements to existing tooling.
  • Setting up jobs for the machine shop.
  • Dealing with vendors in order to purchase various tools for the machine shop.
  • Keep tool crib organized for easy locating of parts and supplies
  • Receives, stores, and issues tooling as needed.
  • Issues tools and equipment to workers & maintains records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
  • Locates lost or misplaced tools and/or equipment.
  • Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory of tools and/or equipment.
  • Inspects and measures tools and/or equipment for defects wear, visually or using a micrometer, and reports damage or wear to supervisors.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines properly and safely
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping, twisting, and bending frequently (more than 4 hours of each activity).
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machines and visually inspect parts.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Office, Excel, and keyboarding skills
  • Organizational Skills
  • Previous tool crib experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment a plus
  • Good communication skills, oral and written.

Work Environment:

  • Standing for 10-hour shifts
  • Moderate physical activity such as walking and lifting is required on a daily basis
  • Safety gear, such as approved safety glasses, is required at all times
  • Clean climate-controlled manufacturing environment
