Job description

The Tooling Technician position is an advanced technical role, responsible for leading the Department in the preparation and documentation of rolls for the production process.
The Tooling Technician will be tasked to successfully prepare and produce all rolls in the inventory independently. The Tooling Technician will also be responsible for accurate completion of all production paperwork on a daily basis as well as managing critical inventory levels and tracking of lot usage and success rates. The Tooling Technician will be expected to go about their daily duties while ensuring optimal cleanliness levels are kept in the Roll Grinding and Roll Making Rooms.
The Tooling Technician will be expected to work under the direction of the Maintenance & Tooling Manager and will also be expected to assist/mentor/educate entry level techs and assistants. Proper and in-depth documentation of all Roll Making Processes will be expected. The Tooling Technician will also handle other related functions on a daily basis as required by the Tooling Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Safely operate all Orafol manufacturing equipment while understanding/following all OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory policies and procedures.
Understand and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Be a self-starter who can work in a fast paced/everchanging environment both individually as well as in a team setting.
Able to pass a comprehensive Powered Industrial Truck training and testing program in order to safely operate PIT's in the facility.
Have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to complete all paperwork/documentation accurately, completely and on a timely basis both for the department and for production.
Follow all procedures, instructions (verbal and written), instructions and specifications in performing their job tasks. Any exceptions/changes must be properly documented.
Independently able to assemble, cast, and demold all rolls.
Independently able to grind, coat, and inspect rolls.
Able to determine if a roll needs attention.
Manage raw materials used for each step in the roll making process.
Able to look up and place order requests for necessary raw materials needed in order to keep production operational.
Able to gain further experience by company mandate as well as independent training initiatives in order to further one's skillset in the roll making process.
Able to initiate additional task work during slack times without the need for direct orders from superiors (I.E. training, cleaning, betterment of the Department).
Complete scheduled tasks efficiently within designated time durations.
Meet specific performance targets which are set for a given time period.
Able to offer suggestions and ideas that will improve the process at hand.
Be an active change agent as the Facility continues to grow and develop for tomorrow.
MUST BE HIGHLY DETAILED ORIENTATED AND HAVE PRIOR MECHANICAL AND TOOLING EXPERIENCE.
NOTE: The above are the duties typical of the Tooling Technician 2 position. Other duties may be assigned as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A High School Diploma is Required
Must successfully meet all criteria of the Tooling Technician 1 Job Detail

Technicians must maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. This includes maintaining all tools and equipment.
It is expected that the Technician will work well with others and work cooperatively between shifts and departments in order to support all Company related needs.
