Job description

Mold Tooling Engineer

Location: Buffalo Grove, Illinois

Duration: Contract

Customer – LTTS

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer moderately complex tooling protocols for molds, jigs, and fixtures as per product specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews. Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) evaluation.
  • Validation for the molding designs and troubleshooting tooling issues.
  • Implement cost effective tool design changes.
  • Collaborate with other team members to qualification, sampling, and final part approval.
  • Provide status reports as per established schedule.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to tool room equipment.
  • The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience and training for 8+ years of related experience in thermoplastics, thermosets, injection molding (e.g. product design, validation of tools), mold flows, troubleshooting and resolving tooling issues, strong familiarity with molding processes.
  • Proficient with use of the tools, experience with electronic assembly: colour code, component, and schematics.
  • Experience with PCB operations. Testing: oscilloscope, cable and harness testing, trouble shooting, component testing, logic analyser. Inspection: bare board, systems, components, cable and harness, microscope, measuring tools. Mechanical & Electrical Tools: taps and dies, alignment tools, measuring tools.
