Summary:
The Industrial Tool Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and calibrating handheld power tools, industrial equipment, manufacturing machinery, dies, molds, and related components to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, documents repairs, and supports daily operational needs.
In addition to technical responsibilities, this position assists with administrative and customer support functions, including answering phones, performing basic computer and data-entry tasks, maintaining records, and facilitating communication among customers, vendors, and internal departments.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain handheld power tools, industrial equipment, and manufacturing machinery.
  • Repair or replace defective mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Disassemble and reassemble tools, machines, dies, molds, and equipment components as necessary.
  • Calibrate tools and equipment to manufacturer and operational specifications.
  • Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation and safety compliance.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Maintain inventory of commonly used repair parts, supplies, and tools.
  • Coordinate with vendors or manufacturers regarding warranty claims, replacement parts, or technical support.

Troubleshooting & Technical Support
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions using diagnostic equipment, testing devices, manuals, and schematics.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, technical drawings, and repair procedures.
  • Respond to operational equipment issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist employees or customers with basic operational questions regarding tools or equipment.

Administrative & Office Support
  • Answer incoming phone calls and route inquiries appropriately.
  • Assist with customer communication regarding repair status, equipment issues, and scheduling.
  • Enter repair notes, work orders, maintenance records, and inventory information into company systems.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of inspections, repairs, calibrations, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist with filing, scanning, email communication, and other clerical or computer-based duties.
  • Support operational and administrative staff as needed to maintain workflow efficiency.

Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing repairs or maintenance.
  • Ensure repaired equipment meets operational and safety standards before returning to service.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment concerns immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and applicable industry standards.

Job Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of tools, equipment types, availability, and rental process.
  • Highly motivated operational professional who can operate within the guidelines assigned.
  • Proficient level of computer skills, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
    • Performs job functions safely at all times.
    • Participates in all safety meetings.
    • Communicates all concerns or violations to the appropriate manager(s) immediately.
    • Uses the proper Personal Protective Equipment when performing work duties. Employee wears the proper shoes, glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc.
    • Employee is properly attired to perform their job safely (no loose-fitting clothes, unsafe jewelry, etc.).
    • Disposes of waste properly.
    • Abides by all local, state, and Federal laws; reads, understands, and agrees to follow the policies outlined in the Company Safety Manual and Company Handbook.
