Job purpose
We are looking for a skilled Tool Crib Attendant with experience in a CNC Lathe and/or Mill Machine Shop to join and lead our growing team. The Tool Crib Attendant will be responsible for ordering, organizing, monitoring and reporting as part of an integral position within BG Precision CNC Machine Shop and Assembly Production with BG Automation, LLC
Duties and responsibilities
  • Adhere to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
  • Issues tools, equipment or parts to workers and maintains records issued and returned.
  • Locates lost or misplaced tools, equipment or parts.
  • Receives, unpacks, and stores incoming tools, equipment or parts, and requisitions stock to replenish inventory.
  • Inputs all required data into business operations software, purchasing, and receiving process requirements.
  • Inspects tools, equipment or parts for defects and wear and reports damage or wear to supervisors.
  • Determine serviceability/repair of tools.
  • Check stock limits and initiate necessary requisitions to replenish supplies when indicated.
  • Plan and conduct periodic inventories and report irregularities.
  • Keeps all parts clean and orderly in the proper locations.
  • Performs clerical activities as directed by manager.
  • Participates actively in the weekly and monthly team meetings.
  • May interface with purchasing, receiving, and business operations software; repair, service or lubricate tools and equipment; deliver tools or equipment to workers, manually or using hand truck; mark and identify tools and equipment, using identification tag, stamp, or electric marking tool.
  • Work directly with Tool Vendors and Programming for proper and efficient tooling needs for new and existing jobs - staying up to date on new technologies and leveraging those relationships for optimal costing, availability, and technical support.
  • Pre-kit set-up orders for production to ensure all required tooling and inspection media are issued with the job.
  • Usage data analysis and data programming of smart cabinets.
  • Control access to the tool crib and ensure all purchases against the tool crib budget are in accordance with the established rules and budget.
  • Gather drills end mills to be re sharpened prepare for shipment with proper paperwork.
  • Tracks tooling cost as it relates to cutter sharpening and looks for cost savings opportunities.
  • Monitors tool inventory and adjusts as needed based on customer demand.
  • Receives and unpacks incoming materials and stocks in appropriate bin locations.
  • Foster a professional, accountable working attitude on the shop floor.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills to accurately and clearly report inventory updates.
  • Check all incoming materials against accompanying paperwork and store in proper location.
  • Monitor the calibration tool and gauge programs.
  • Maintain tooling documentation.
  • Accomplishing receiving inspection on tooling.
  • Maintain storage area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Check stock limits and initiate necessary requisitions to replenish supplies when indicated.
  • Plan and conduc6t periodic inventories and report irregularities.

  • Lead in the identification of optimal tool crib software management tools for enhanced shop performance with a high ROI impact.
  • Ensure Tool Crib security and proper Tool Crib access.
  • Running the floor cleaning equipment.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED - required.
  • Four (4) years of manufacturing experience required, specifically with familiarity with CNC machinery and tools.
  • Direct CNC Machining as a Machinist on Mill &/or Lathe experience preferred.
  • Tool Crib experience and Tool Crib Management Software is preferred.
  • Must have experience with materials, inventory or part numbering preferred.
  • Very detail oriented and organizational skills is required.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products is required.
