REPORTS TO: Logistics Manager

LOCATION: Sumter, SC


Overview:

The Tool Crib Supervisor is responsible for overseeing tool crib operations to ensure the availability, control, and proper maintenance of tools, equipment, and consumable supplies in support of manufacturing and maintenance activities. This role provides leadership to tool crib personnel, maintains inventory accuracy, ensures compliance with calibration and safety requirements, and drives continuous improvement to support efficient and uninterrupted operations.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day tool crib operations, including tool issuance, returns, storage, and tracking.
  • Lead, train, and provide direction to Tool Crib Associates to ensure consistent execution of processes and standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper accountability for tools, parts, and consumable supplies.
  • Analyze tool usage trends and collaborate with Production and Maintenance to forecast demand and prevent shortages.
  • Manage ordering and replenishment of tools and consumables in alignment with budget and operational needs.
  • Develop and improve tool crib layouts, workflows, and standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company policies related to tool crib operations.
  • Support audits and inventory counts, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce tool loss, downtime, and operational inefficiencies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, trade, or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3โ€“5 years of experience in tool crib, inventory control, manufacturing, or maintenance environments.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with inventory management systems and calibration programs preferred.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze inventory data and make informed operational decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and tool identification knowledge.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and standard work documentation.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing/warehouse environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
