Job description

McKenney's is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our team as a Tool Room Associate I. This is an entry-level position focused on supporting day-to-day tool room operations, including inventory management, tool issuance and return, and basic tool maintenance. You will gain valuable experience working on a rapidly growing construction logistics team with opportunities for cross-training and advancement.
This position is part of a clearly defined career progression within our Tool Room operations team. High-performing team members can advance from Tool Room Associate I to Tool Room Associate II to Tool Room Coordinator, with increasing levels of responsibility, ownership, and influence over operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Utilize proprietary web-based software to check tools in and out to construction jobs using handheld scanner and/or PC
  • Monitor tool and consumable levels to ensure availability for job needs
  • Clean and inspect returned tools and sort them into designated storage locations
  • Identify and replace damaged barcodes
  • Barcode new tools and input relevant details for system entry
  • Assist with quarterly inventory of tool room assets
  • Load and unload tools onto trucks and trailers as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with 5S principles
  • Submit weekly time tickets for approval

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer and mobile device skills
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate a forklift (training provided)
  • Reliable, organized, and willing to learn

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous experience in construction, logistics, or tool management
  • General familiarity with common construction tools, their names, and functions
  • Exposure to construction or warehouse environments

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS
  • Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves moderate exposure to tool room or construction hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Strong physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds and extensive climbing, walking, and standing.
