Job description

Frederick Flying Cows - Professional Basketball Organization
2026 Fall Sales Internship
(Frederick, Maryland)
  • Unpaid Internship Position
  • Candidates MUST reside in or commute daily to Frederick, Maryland

The Role:
The Frederick Flying Cows professional basketball team internship program is an experience and opportunity like no other in professional sports! As the Fall Sales Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and receive tangible real-world experience with direct responsibility in the organization. You will not only receive the opportunity to learn and observe how a growing professional sports organization operates in the offseason... but also be a part of the Flying Cows as we head into our fourth season in the 94x50 league!
The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and will be open to performing a wide variety of tasks in order to learn what is required to sell and grow the revenue side of a professional basketball team and organization. We strongly prefer candidates who are either from or currently living in the Frederick area.
Interns are required to work all Frederick Flying Cows offseason events, youth programs, and community appearances, as directed by the General Manager.
The internship program is an unpaid position that can be used for college credit. The role is entry level and candidates must be willing to work at a high level in order to successfully fulfill their duties and gain a plethora of experience.
THIS IS AN IN-PERSON OPPORTUNITY! Candidates must already reside in the Frederick area and be willing to commute daily or fully relocate to the area.
Who are the Flying Cows?
The Frederick Flying Cows are a professional basketball organization competing in the 94x50 league, and one of the founding franchises of the league. The 94x50 season runs from March - May, with playoffs in June. The league is positioning itself as an alternative option for players who might be playing in professional leagues overseas and are hoping to build their careers towards playing against the highest possible competition. The quality of play in the 94x50 league is high - just a notch below the level of the NBA G-league. Heading into our fourth season, the Flying Cows have built a successful on-court product as well as a one-of-a-kind brand off the court.
What you can expect...
We are a small team, meaning our interns will work cross-functionally, be involved in all aspects of the organization, and have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas. With that, the Fall Sales Intern will prioritize ticket sales, sponsorship support, and revenue-driving initiatives during a critical offseason stretch as we prepare to launch the 2027 season. As the Flying Cows Fall Sales Intern, you may work on the following, but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ticket Sales Support: Assist in the sales of season tickets, mini plans, group tickets, and individual game tickets for the 2027 season, including outreach, follow-ups, and helping close deals.
  • Group & Community Sales: Help prospect and reach out to local schools, youth organizations, businesses, and community groups to build group ticket packages and community nights.
  • Sponsorship Support: Assist the sales team with prospecting, preparing sponsorship decks, and following up with potential sponsors in the Frederick area.
  • Season Ticket Holder Outreach: Help with renewal outreach, retention calls, and personal touchpoints with returning season ticket holders to strengthen relationships and grow the base.
  • CRM Management: Maintain and update the CRM with leads, contacts, notes, and follow-ups to keep the sales pipeline organized and moving.
  • Prospecting & Outreach: Support cold outreach efforts including email campaigns, phone calls, and in-person visits to local businesses, gyms, and community organizations.
  • Sales Event Support: Assist with executing sales-driven events, sponsor activations, and community appearances that generate leads and drive revenue.
  • Reporting & Tracking: Help track sales activity, campaign performance, and revenue reporting to help the team hit its offseason goals.

Basic Expectations & Requirements
  • Actively pursuing a college degree or recent graduate.
  • Must be located in the Frederick, MD area.
  • Report directly to the General Manager, Operations Manager, Sales Manager, and Marketing Associate, and fulfill all duties as requested.
  • Represent the organization, as needed, at events and appearances.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all existing and potential fans.
  • Professionally represent the organization at business and community functions.
  • Work as a member of the TEAM, and Have Fun!
  • Attend all offseason events, camps, and community appearances to ensure great experiences for fans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The internship program is designed to provide training where candidates will gain valuable skills that assist them as they progress in their sports careers.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking motivated, energetic candidates with the goal of building a career in the world of entertainment and athletics. Candidates should be willing to travel and to work odd hours. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity for candidates who don't require much structure and are willing to take risks and try new things.
Who You Are:
  • Current college student or recent graduate with a passion for sports and a strong interest in sales, business development, or partnerships.
  • Confident communicator who is comfortable making phone calls, sending outreach emails, and meeting people face-to-face.
  • Competitive, self-motivated, and driven to hit goals.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a pipeline and follow up consistently.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Availability for offseason events, camps, community appearances, and occasional weekends.

Perks:
  • Opportunity to build a portfolio in sports sales, business development, and revenue generation.
  • Real-world experience in ticket sales, sponsorship, and CRM management.
  • Networking opportunities with industry professionals and local business owners.
  • Direct exposure to how a professional sports organization prepares for a new season from top to bottom.

More about Frederick Flying Cows
The 94x50 league regular season runs from March - May, with playoffs in June. The league is positioning itself as an alternative option for players who might be playing in professional leagues overseas and are hoping to build their careers towards playing against the highest possible competition. The quality of play in the 94x50 league is high - just a notch below the level of the NBA G-league.
We are a well-prepared group with the goal of building a championship-quality organization! We believe there are three (3) key legs of the stool required to build a quality franchise.
  • We need to create and manage a high-quality entertainment product that is appealing to a broad age range. We want 94x50 basketball home games to be a high-quality, fun, and entertaining event that people, both basketball fans and non-basketball fans, will enjoy.
  • We need to put together an excellent basketball team and basketball organization.
  • We need to build a community organization that is invested in Frederick County. Our goal is basketball, over time, to be part of the fabric of the community and a team that the people of Frederick are proud of.

As we think about putting together our team, we have broken the operation down into three (3) areas of focus: Basketball Operations, Business Operations, and Sales & Marketing. We are looking for interns to assist in all areas of the business. Building on what we've built so far will be both demanding and rewarding.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with energy, drive, and a positive attitude who is indefatigable and will gain great satisfaction from being a part of a growing organization.
We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
