Job description

Make a Difference This Season – Become a Bell Ringer! Cumberland, Hoke, Harnett, Scotland, and Moore counties are now open for applications! 

Looking for a flexible, festive seasonal opportunity? Join our team as a bell ringer! Help spread holiday cheer while raising vital funds for local families in need.

Schedule hours are from Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm

Ring bells for The Salvation Army Christmas Program at assigned locations; ensure the kettle is never left unattended; greet the public in a courteous and friendly manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Rings bells for The Salvation Army Christmas program at assigned locations.
  • Ensures that the kettle is never left unattended.
  • Greets the public in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Conducts job duties in accordance with the ministry of The Salvation Army and its Christian principles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army Christmas Bell program.
  • Ability to follow instructions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to greet and respond to the general public courteously.
  • Ability to abide by required dress code.
  • Ability to ring a small handbell and be responsible for the bell and apron.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to stand in one location for extended periods in outside weather conditions with breaks and lunch periods as required by State law.
  • Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Duties are performed standing and may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting or walking.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed outside, where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather and discomforts associated with noise, dust, and dirt. Dressing appropriately is important for comfort.
All employees recognize that the Salvation Army is a church and agree that they will do nothing as an employee of the Salvation Army to undermine its religious mission.
