Responsibilities
An Estimator in our Resource Group prepares budgets, estimates, and pre-bid packages for construction projects to be built for our lifelong clients.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to effectively manage multiple estimates and proposals concurrently
- Perform accurate and thorough quantity take-offs
- Properly evaluate drawings, specs, and other bid documents for all involved scope
- Conduct site visits, pre-bid meetings, and perform detailed scope evaluations for all trade work
- Use multiple software systems and web applications for estimating and bid letting
- Collects bids and evaluate for complete and comparable pricing
- Write up project scope narratives in proposal format that is easily understood
- Review bids with others for thoroughness and participate in project hand-off meetings
- Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to ensure completion of all duties and tasks
- Represents the Company, at all times, with professionalism and a commitment to quality
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements
Required:
- Bluebeam (or similar) PDF viewer/takeoff software
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- HCSS HeavyBid (or similar) estimating software
- Agtek (or similar) earthwork takeoff software
- Primavera P6 (or similar) scheduling software
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years engineering, estimating, or similar experience with mass earthwork, underground utilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, or exposed piping.
- PE license or the ability to obtain one is a plus.
