Overview:
As a Lab Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in the patient journey by collecting blood specimens with precision and care. Responsibilities:

Draw blood samples from patients across all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, using venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols, maintaining accuracy and integrity of samples.

Verify patient identification and demographic details before specimen collection, ensuring proper labeling in the patient’s presence to maintain specimen integrity and compliance.

Explain procedures clearly and sensitively to patients, fostering a trusting environment and reducing anxiety.

Maintain detailed and accurate records of collections, ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory standards.

Follow all safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies to uphold a safe, professional environment.

Assist with process improvements and demonstrate leadership behaviors by focusing on process excellence and team collaboration.

Travel between multiple locations within a 30-mile radius as needed, including weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments, supporting the operational needs of the healthcare team.

Required Skills:

Proven proficiency in phlebotomy with at least three years of experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collection techniques.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume setting.

Excellent communication skills; able to explain procedures clearly and build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.

Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and standard operating procedures.

Proficiency in keyboard/data entry to document collections and maintain accurate records.

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record are required for travel between locations.

Nice to Have Skills:

Certification in phlebotomy from an accredited organization.

Medical assistant or paramedic training, which enhances clinical skills and patient interaction abilities.

Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.

Bilingual skills or additional language proficiency to better serve diverse patient populations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Supplementary medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic certification is preferred.

A minimum of three years of direct phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.

Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment is advantageous and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements:

Flexibility to work variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours, to meet patient care demands.

Ability to travel within a 30-mile radius among different patient service centers and outpatient clinics.

Commitment to following all safety protocols, dress codes, and policies aligned with company standards.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform venipuncture, and handle specimen transport as needed.

Certification in phlebotomy preferred, especially in states where required (e.g., California, Nevada, Washington).
