Responsibilities
An Estimator in our Resource Group prepares budgets, estimates, and pre-bid packages for construction projects to be built for our lifelong clients.
Essential Functions
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple estimates and proposals concurrently
  • Perform accurate and thorough quantity take-offs
  • Properly evaluate drawings, specs, and other bid documents for all involved scope
  • Conduct site visits, pre-bid meetings, and perform detailed scope evaluations for all trade work
  • Use multiple software systems and web applications for estimating and bid letting
  • Collects bids and evaluate for complete and comparable pricing
  • Write up project scope narratives in proposal format that is easily understood
  • Review bids with others for thoroughness and participate in project hand-off meetings
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to ensure completion of all duties and tasks
  • Represents the Company, at all times, with professionalism and a commitment to quality

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements
Required:
  • Bluebeam (or similar) PDF viewer/takeoff software
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred:
  • HCSS HeavyBid (or similar) estimating software
  • Agtek (or similar) earthwork takeoff software
  • Primavera P6 (or similar) scheduling software

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years engineering, estimating, or similar experience with mass earthwork, underground utilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, or exposed piping.
  • PE license or the ability to obtain one is a plus.
