Job Summary
The Director of Testing and Disability Services provides strategic leadership for disability services for all current and prospective students at the university. They work with all staff to ensure access for students with disabilities, review policies and procedures to maintain compliance with all federal and state ADA regulations, and oversee the day-to-day administration of the department. The Director also supervises the administration of testing services for the university, including testing for all current and prospective students and for the community.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE DISABILITY SERVICES : Provide comprehensive disability services for students enrolled across all Augusta University campuses. Review and evaluate documentation for students with disabilities to determine appropriate, individualized accommodations in accordance with ADA guidelines. Coordinate with the Regents Center for Learning Disorders (RCLD), when necessary, ensuring documentation is submitted, and accommodations are aligned with system-level standards. Conduct regular meetings with students each semester to assess accommodation effectiveness, address concerns, and support ongoing academic success. Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including progress notes and documentation, to ensure compliance and continuity of services. Serve as a resource to faculty by providing guidance on accommodation implementation and ensuring adherence to ADA standards in classroom and clinical settings. Facilitate resolution of concerns by mediating between students and faculty, ensuring reasonable outcomes while maintaining compliance and institutional integrity.
ENSURE THAT THE UNIVERSITY IS COMPLIANT : Ensure that the university is compliant with federal and state ADA regulations and with Board of Regents regulations and policies as they pertain to classroom and clinical instruction. Monitor changes in federal, state, and Board of Regents ADA and testing regulations, and inform university leadership of any updates that may impact institutional practices, risk exposure, or student access. Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate policies and procedures to ensure ADA and testing regulations are applied consistently and effectively across academic and clinical environments. Serve as a subject matter expert by consulting with faculty, staff, and administrators on ADA requirements, providing clear guidance on accommodations, compliance obligations, and best practices for supporting students. Design and deliver training initiatives for faculty and staff to increase awareness, understanding, and proper application of ADA regulations and testing protocols. Collaborate with campus partners to ensure compliance efforts are aligned, documented, and responsive to student needs while maintaining institutional accountability and legal standards.
PROVIDES STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP : Provides strategic and operational leadership, ensuring effective administration, personnel management, and fiscal oversight. Oversee the departmental operations budget through monthly reviews, revenue tracking, and timely budget amendments to ensure alignment with priorities and operational effectiveness. Ensure compliance with all university fiscal policies, procedures, and reporting requirements while maintaining accurate and responsible financial practices. Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and supervise staff, while conducting regular staff meetings to ensure clear communication, accountability, and alignment with departmental goals. Develop, implement, and regularly review policies, procedures, and job responsibilities to support efficiency, consistency, and institutional alignment. Manage day-to-day operations, including assigning and adjusting staff responsibilities as needed, to ensure high-quality service delivery for students, faculty, and staff while staying current on institutional best practices through ongoing professional development.
DEVELOP STRATEGIC UNIT AND RETENTION PLANS : Develop strategic unit and retention plans for the department and provide reports with relevant information related to these plans. Establish clear, measurable annual goals that align with divisional priorities and the broader institutional strategic plan. Create defined metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate progress toward each goal, incorporating both quantitative data and qualitative feedback. Foster intentional partnerships with academic and administrative units to align efforts that support student success and retention. Conduct ongoing analysis of unit-level and institutional retention data to identify trends, gaps, and areas of opportunity.
PROVIDE STRATEGIC GUIDANCE AND OVERSIGHT FOR TESTING SERVICE : Review, negotiate, and approve contracts with external testing agencies to ensure compliance, fiscal responsibility, and alignment with institutional needs. Collaborate with the Registrar, academic departments, and campus partners to develop and maintain a comprehensive annual testing schedule that supports academic and operational priorities. Evaluate testing needs and pursue new testing partnerships or contracts to expand offerings and better serve students, faculty, and the broader community. Provide ongoing consultation and directions to Testing staff to ensure efficient operations, adherence to testing protocols, and high-quality service delivery. Ensure all testing practices align with regulatory standards, institutional policies, and best practices for security, accessibility, and student support.
SERVE ON COMMITTEES : Serve on university committees and cross-functional teams that require expertise in student support, compliance, and accessibility, contributing to coordinated institutional responses and policy development.
OTHER : Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field and five years of related experience in a higher education setting, including supervision of staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and training in a disability-related field would be beneficial. Clinical counseling or social work license would also be beneficial.

KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated proficiency in Banner and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize new and emerging technologies, including accessible software and specialized equipment.
Knowledge of budget management and departmental planning.
Strong knowledge of disability services practices, accommodation processes, and regulatory compliance within a higher education environment.

Salary: $68,500/annually-$85,423/annually
