Appliance Testing Lab Technician

SUMMIT Appliance (www.summitappliance.com), a Division of Felix Storch, Inc. is a 57-year-old private business, located in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx. We are a manufacturer and distributor of major appliances, including vaccine, healthcare and life science refrigeration. We are seeking an appliance testing lab technician to assist with the final testing phases of our new 120-volt range. You will be taking and recording measurements of time and temperature while our test cook prepares various menus on the range.

Job Type: This is a temporary assignment beginning on September 14,2026. We anticipate the project lasting three to four months. The hours will be Mon ? Fri, 10am-2pm

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Test Kitchen and Equipment Setup
    1. Set up and test ranges with temperature sensors and an energy meter
    2. Print daily test plans, recipes, and SOPs
    3. Communicate recipe needs and confirm ingredient availability ahead of testing so the engineering manager can place orders.
  2. Testing
    1. Measure all ingredients precisely to ensure test repeatability
    2. Follow recipes carefully, and record any deviations as needed.
    3. Work closely with the testing cook and the engineering manager to ensure recipes are followed, and immediately flag any issues to the engineering manager
  3. Data Logging and Record Keeping
    1. Document the initial conditions prior to any testing, including reference photos and include dates.
    2. Record ongoing test metrics such as ingredient weights, starting temperature (where needed), ambient conditions, preheat times, boil benchmarks, and cooking times.
    3. Measure the cooked food temperature to verify doneness, capture results, and log the internal temperature, oven thermal data, total energy consumption and final visual outcome photos.
  4. Reporting and Database management
    1. Summarize the test results, thermal and energy data in formal reports
    2. Log all test results, observations, metrics, and photos into a designated network folder
  5. *Other responsibilities as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: An associate college degree in any science, math, engineering or related field, and/or experience in a technical position
  • Excellent computer skills- MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Word
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work for timely completion
  • A critical thinker with strong attention to detail
  • Able to take initiative and work interdependently, adjust to shifting priorities, communicate effectively, and work under defined rules and regulations
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.


Rate of pay: $25 hourly
