Job description

Manager, Settlements (Temporary)
Position Overview
We are seeking a temporary Settlements Manager to support the Settlements function during a critical ETRM implementation project. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely execution of settlement and accounting activities to allow the Senior Manager, Settlements to focus on the ETRM implementation project. The temporary Settlements Manager will be expected to provide leadership, oversight, and hands-on support across daily operations and key close processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting and operational expertise, with the ability to quickly step in and assume ownership of core day-to-day responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assume ownership of day-to-day settlements and accounting activities to relieve current senior manager bandwidth, ensuring continuity of operations and timely execution of critical processes.
  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly settlements, including reconciliation of ISO statements, charge codes, capacity, and ancillaries across PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO.
  • Review and validate junior analysts' workbooks, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established controls.
  • Step into existing workflows to quickly understand, reverse engineer, and execute current processes needed to support daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables.
  • Prepare and review workbooks & related journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations; play a key role in month-end close.
  • Identify and implement practical process improvements where appropriate, while prioritizing immediate execution and stability of existing operations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with trading, finance, accounting, and operations to ensure alignment on settlements and financial reporting.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
  • CPA strongly preferred; MBA or MAcc a plus.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in accounting, settlements, revenue accounting, or energy/power markets, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end processes.
  • Experience with ISO settlements (PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO) preferred but not required.
  • Strong accounting foundation, including close processes, accruals, and reconciliations; public accounting experience a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with ETRM platforms preferred, but not required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including working with large data sets and detailed workbook-based reconciliations.
  • Proven ability to quickly step into an existing environment, operate independently, and execute in a highly hands-on capacity.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to review work, provide feedback, and collaborate across teams.
